Riccardo Tisci belongs to the most talented and successful designers of the 21st century. He’s been the chief designer at the French luxury label Givenchy since 2005 and has achieved tremendous success of which most people can’t even dream about. His style is unique and his skills can’t be expressed in words. It’s no surprise that everything Tisci touches and creates has a certain buzz around it – like his newest collaboration called NikeLab x Riccardo Tisci.
Among Tisci’s best friend are superstars like Kim Kardashian (yes, he designed her stunning wedding dress) and husband Kanye West, Naomi Campbell and Madonna. Despite all his successes and Hollywood connections, Tisci has stayed very humble and carries with him a very contagious positive aura. This might be because of his family – Tisci has 8 sisters! He has never lost the true values of life and has never hesitated to tell his followers how important family and friends are, how important it is to believe in oneself and how important it is to never forget where you come from. His place of birth Taranto, an Italian city full of mystical artworks, influences him for his creations. His love to Italy seems like an endless inspiration to him. Has it also been a source of inspiration for his newest collaboration with Nike?
Givenchy without Riccardo Tisci? Unimaginable. He made the Parisian label to what it is today and is without a doubt responsible for Givenchy’s most important achievements. Despite all his successes with Givenchy, Tisci still decided to go – for once – with Nike. The new creations are astonishing and make you want even more! The cooperation with Nike has given Tisci new opportunities. Opportunities that allow him to express his ideas in a new way and reach a completely new audience. Even though he is well known for his Givenchy creations, many fans couldn’t afford the clothing of their favourite designer. Now they have the chance to wear a collection of their favourite designer, the new collection of NikeLab x Riccardo Tisci isn’t just less costly, it’s also extremely cool. One doesn’t even have to be a Nike fan to appreciate the new designs and have the desire to buy out the whole store. From shoes to t-shirts – Riccardo has proven that he is well capable of creating streetwear! My favourite pieces of the NikeLab x Riccardo Tisci collection can be seen bellow (yes, it was difficult to decide which ones I like the most). The whole fashion world is in agreement that Riccardo should more often reach out to other labels and let his Italian (and a drop gothic) style influence other brands. Karim
